A World of War

WoW. It's tragic how much violence occurs around the world. What's worse is that we are so ignorant to it. James Nachtwey educated me on many of the violent acts that happen around the world. I was shocked to see some of the photos he's taken and the message portrayed by them. Death, Famine, Violence, Pain, Heartache, Suffering. It's all so terrible. And we as a society ignore it. I'm glad photographers like James are willing to risk their lives to create the awareness and truth through imagery that his photo create.

"I have been a witness, and these pictures are

my testimony. The events I have recorded should

not be forgotten and must not be repeated."

-James Nachtwey-

Blurb

Is there anything more precious and pure than a newborn baby. This book is all photographs of newborns using black and white photography. The black background in contrast with the delicate pale skin of the babies makes them seem all the more soft and fragile. I loved this book because you can’t help but smile when you look at it.

When browsing so many books you realize how vital the book cover is. This book cover is so simple yet very striking because of the black and white contrast. The text on the front combine with the image tells you exact what to expect from this book and invites you in.

The Removal Act

Janel Munoa can rock like the best. I was extremely impressed to find she had a remarkable voice and an even more impressive cause. Her latest music video is beautiful and inspiring. She includes her own illustrations which come to life off the wall she drew them on.

City Girl

So I'll be completely honest....I know nothing about plants! But the exciting thing about that is I'll learn A LOT this semester. I have no idea what the native California plants are, I live in the city where the closest thing I get to nature is the man made stream outside my apartment window, and I'm so bad at keeping plants alive that I almost killed a Bamboo plant. Don't get me wrong I love flowers, beaches, mountains, and wildlife and it is my new personal goal to spend more time out of my busy life enjoy and connecting with those things.
